BJHS Bears claim Brownsboro `B' Team Tournament Championship titles

Brownsboro was the site of the Brownsboro Junior High B Team Tournament on Saturday, December 15.

Both Brownsboro teams claimed the tournament titles as the 8th grade team defeated Van 29-19 and the 7th grade team defeated Murchison by the score of 33-18.

In the 8th grade championship game the Bears shot an impressive 11 of 12 from the free throw line. AJ Bell led the team in scoring with 8 points.

Playing in the semifinals the Bears defeated Eustace36-16 as Cheston Becknal led the team in scoring with 12 points. Becknal scored in every period.

The 7th grade Bears were led in scoring by Jacob Ludford with 12 points in the championship win over Murchison. Also scoring in double figures for the Bears was Kevin Elder with 10.

To advance to the title game the 7th grade Bears defeated Eustace.

Prior to the tournament all four Brownsboro teams played host to Athens on Monday.

8th grade action saw the Bears `A' team falling to Athens by the score of 39-22 while the `B' team edged Athens in overtime 22-21.

Cheston Becknal and Jordan Flynn led the `B' Bears in scoring with eight points each in the overtime victory. Nic Jones led the `A' team in scoring with 11 points.

Both 7th grade teams lost to Athens. The `A' team lost by the score of 45-37 while the `B' team lost 14-10.

Patrick McCarthy lit up the scoreboard in the 7th grade `A' team loss with 17 points and two 3-pointers.
