Bears split games before Holiday Classic

In two games before the Christmas holiday the Bears fell to Edgewood last Tuesday before defeating Eustace last Friday in Eustace.

On Tuesday the Bears took a 21-17 lead into the half before scoring just 12 points the entire second half. Edgewood's hot shooting led to a 56-33 win. Edgewood nailed eight 3-pointers in the game, five in the second half.

Keaton Parsell led the Bears in scoring with 14 points and Andrew Adair sank the Bears' only 3-pointer in the game.

In Eustace on Friday the Bears defense carried the team until the offense hit its stride in a 54-42 win over the Bulldogs.

Both team struggled to find the basket in the first period before the Bears lit up the scoreboard for 18 points in the second period.

Brownsboro took a first period lead and never looked back against the Bulldogs. The Bears biggest lead of the game was 19 points early in the fourth period.

Chad Wilson Photo Senior Keaton Parsell led the Bears in scoring in the game against Edgewood with 14 points.

Parsell led the Bears in scoring with 18 points as he scored eight points in both halves.

Tyler Rogers also scored in double figures for the Bears with 11 points. He also nailed the Bears only 3-pointer.

Beginning today the Bears will play in the Kaufman Holiday Classic. Today the Bears play at 9:30am against Krum and on Friday they will play at 8am against Kemp and 3:30pm against Forney.

On the season the Bears record improved to 9-8 with the win over Eustace.

Through the game against Edgewood Tristain Warren led the team in steals (37), blocks (22) and rebounds (153).

Seth Martin, injured, leads the team in 3-point shots made with 10. Ryan Smith leads the team in assists with 71.

Parsell is the team leader in total points scored with 162 points through Eustace. Ryan Smith has scored 155 points through the Eustace game.

Following the Kaufman Classic the Bears will host Mabank on Tuesday, January 8 at 7:30pm.

On Friday, January 11 the Bears will open District 14- 3A play against the Canton Eagles.

Brownsboro has already defeated Canton this season.
