`Jews for Jesus' present `Christ in the Passover'
Lake Palestine United Methodist Church invites all to hear Bruce Rapp speak on Tuesday, March 18th at 7:00 p.m., as he leads us to find Christ in the Passover Seder meal. Rapp is an evangelist with Jews for Jesus, Phoenix Branch. He was the National Director of Mobile Evangelism at the Jews for Jesus San Francisco headquarters for three years before becoming a full time missionary. He and his wife Tracy, along with son Jordan reside in Phoenix.
Jews for Jesus is an organization that proclaims that Jesus is the Messiah of Israel and Savior of the world. "What could be more Jewish than following the Messiah?" says Rapp, who considers himself 100 percent Jewish and 100 percent Christian.
Rapp grew up in Brooklyn, New York in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. He went to Hebrew school and studied the Torah at a young age. Rapp attended synagogue for Shabbat services every week with his family. It was not until he had his own family that he began to see who Jesus really is.
It was Easter week 1993 when Rapp attended an Easter production that his son's school put on. As the pastor began to speak, he shared about Jesus, referring to Scriptures of the Old Testament. Isaiah 53, Micah 5, Psalms 22, were just a few of the Scriptures that made Rapp question who Jesus really is. He began reading everything he could get his hands on to find the truth. A few weeks later, Rapp became a believer in Jesus and has come to understand that no matter what he does he will not lose his Jewish identity. Believing in Jesus is the most Jewish thing that he can do.
We at Lake Palestine United Methodist Church will be blessed to hear how this one deeply embedded in Jewish tradition will lead us through the Seder celebration to find our history as children of God liberated by the work of God. The Seder meal presentation is given by various representatives of the Jews for Jesus organization throughout the year. We are particularly blessed to be able to learn about this celebration during Holy Week this year.
There will be no admission charge for this presentation, but a love offering for travel expenses and missionary support will be taken. Space is limited ... call 903-849-2379 to make your reservation. (Please leave a name and telephone number on the answering machine if no one is present to receive your call.)
