On the Fifth Sunday of Lent, members of St. Boniface Catholic Church heard through the Gospel of John of the death and rising to life of Lazarus, friend of Jesus. In a lesson in faith, Martha knew that Jesus had the power to save Lazarus from death. In his homily, Fr. Jesse explained the rising of Lazarus was a powerful sign to the Jews. Many knew of the healing powers of Christ, but few realized He had the power over death! The full extent of His power is revealed in the Resurrection. In Baptism, we rise with Jesus in life. After the Resurrection we rise in Christ in Eternity. We must listen to God's call in this life ... there will be no choice on Judgment Day.

Following Mass, refreshby ments were enjoyed in the community room.

In the fifth installment of the Lenten Devotion, Iris Mamo, DRE presented the short DVD on the Beatitudes. Also referred to as `The Sermon on the Mount,' the beatitudes (according to our Catholic teaching) confront us with decisive choices concerning earthly goods; they purify our hearts in order to teach us to love God above all else. Iris thanked those who set the example to our youth by attending rosaries, stations, and this Lenten devotion with them.

A copy of the Lenten schedule is posted in the community room for those who did not get the one included in this week's bulletin. Please note the times of the services and make plans to attend.

The community presentation of The Passion Play will be March 15th and 16th at 7:30 pm on the church grounds. This production is free to the public. Make plans to attend this beautiful presentation with your family.

The ladies of the Altar Society wish to thank everyone who participated in the special collection this past weekend. All the funds from the second collection will be used to adorn the altar with Easter flowers.

Reminder: training for new altar servers (who have signed up) will take place on Saturday, March 15th at 3:00 pm. Deacon Steve Curry will preside at the training. If you have any questions, please call Tracy and Raul DeLaGarza for information.

Congratulations and best wishes to all who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries.

May God bless you! We pray for the sick and suffering to find comfort in Christ, our Lord. Please remember in prayer our departed brothers and sisters; may they rest in peace. We ask for continued prayer for those men and women serving our country; may God the Father protect them from all harm until they can come home again!
