Nathan Straus Photo West Side Volunteer Fire Department was the first to respond to this structure fire in Forest Grove last Friday morning. A fire broke out on Friday, March 7 in the Forest Grove subdivision south of Chandler. The fire, which started at close to 8:30 am, consumed a travel trailer and a mobile home before being extinguished.

Rick McCune, West Side Volunteer Fire Department lieutenant, said the owner of the mobile home had been using a kerosene heater at the time of the fire. McCune also said the owner, whose name was not identified, suffered some minor facial burns.

During the course of the battle against the fire, trucks from Brownsboro and Chandler fire departments were called to the scene.

While an electrical wire was downed in the blaze, the fire departments were able to put out the fire. The last flame was extinguished around 9:30 am.

"There were no casualties," McCune said.

Firefighters were able to douse the flames before the fire spread to a neighboring structure.
