Summer Syler Lawrence is learning that God speaks in unexpected ways. When she agreed to paint a mural last year she could not have foreseen that one job changing the course of her next year and a half. Lawrence, an Athens resident, had been a muralist for several years. After taking a break following the birth of a child, she decided to go back to work. More ... The members of St. Boniface celebrated Pentecost and Mother's Day on Sunday. A special blessing was bestowed on the moms, and a single rose was given to each in honor of the day. We were honored to be the special guests at New Hope Methodist Church's monthly fellowship dinner. They have some really great cooks and the retirement cake was delicious. Our church was particularly beautiful Sunday with the beautiful flowers and pictures of our Moms on the altar. Mrs. Wanda Caldwell always does a great job. More ... Since it was Mother's Day, the church honored our mothers at the second service with a special musical number from Gail Johnston. It was really beautiful and we appreciate her doing it. The bad news for the mothers was that the church had ordered some little special gifts for them, but the shipment didn't come in on time, so probably the gifts will be given out next week. More ... |
