Triple D Candles and Crafts offers unique gift items
Owner, Terry Downey It's a cozy gift shop located at the intersection of FM 314 and Highway 31 in Brownsboro. Triple D Candles and Crafts is owned by husband and wife Rusty and Terry Downey.
The shop specializes in candles and a unique selection of pictures.
"My husband takes a piece of wallpaper border," Terry started, "adheres it to a new, hand-cut piece of corrugated metal and puts it all together himself."
The result is a beautiful homemade picture with a subject limited only by the imagination.
Terry's inventory of these pictures in- cludes popular themes such as western and horse related pictures, as well as less well known items depicting things like bathtubs. Religious depictions are also available.
As for the candles, each scent is made in by Terry and put in a wick jar to market.
Scents include everything from popular fruits and treats to flowers and beyond.
The craft store is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm, and every second and third Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. The store is not open during Canton's First Monday event, which takes place on the first Monday of each month. Instead, craft enthusiasts will have to travel to Canton to browse Triple D's wares.
's Angels Terry also takes time away from Brownsboro in October to attend the Covered Bridge Festival in Indiana. Likewise, she spends time in Arkansas in September for the national chuck wagon races on Labor Day Weekend.
Pictures and candles are not all that is available at Triple D Candles and Crafts. The shop is the only place close to Brownsboro where the Kenny's Angels product is sold.
Kenny's Angels are angels built by Laura Collins to honor the memory of her son, Kenny. After losing Kenny in an accident, Collins began to build angels made to look like people. She makes nurses, drill team members, football players and many other types.
Also available at the store are items such as solar-powered house lamps, a horseshoe Christmas tree and more.
Triple D has been in business for seven years, though it has only been at its current location for one year. Until recently, the business was usually run directly out of Terry's home.
"We sell a lot of decorations here," Terry said. "There's something for everyKenny one."
