Members from 14 chapters attended the Area I workshop of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International which was held in Athens on Saturday, August 16.

Area Coordinator Rita Curington welcomed the members and recognized chapters and individual members that had received awards at the Alpha State Convention in July.

Special guest speaker, Alpha State President JoAnn Brooks, noted that she would probably be remembered as "the president who brought change to the organization, " as many changes have been implemented during her tenure.

Workshop sessions were held for newly elected chapter officers and for programs, yearbooks, ceremonies, communications and other functions. Ideas for community projects were also shared. The meeting ended with surprise entertainment by a women's barbershop quartet. Kappa Pi members who attended the workshop had a leisurely lunch and fellowship afterwards.
