Busch get's competition and Edwards get's the win
Carl Edwards got to execute his signature back flip Sunday, after his victory at Michigan International Speedway. Right behind the #99 car was, of course, Kyle Busch. You didn't think he was going to let him have it easy now, did you?
Edwards snuck away from points leader Kyle Busch during a pit stop on lap 181. Then on the restart, for lap 199, Edwards caught the lead and finished the race by a lead of .947 seconds.
The three major American automakers at Michigan were General Motors, Ford and Chrysler (Dodge).
Edwards made history by winning both races at Michigan over the weekend. The first was Saturday's Nationwide Series race and the second being his Sprint Cup win on Sunday.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., who won at Michigan in 2007, started in forth and was one of the fastest at the beginning of the race. That was until, after a restart, Jr. hit the wall on turn 4 with only 18 laps to go. Jr. finished the race in in twenty-third.
Jeff Gordon's point and poll standings were brutally injured on lap 98, when he slammed into the wall, due to a right front cut tire. This bumped him from sixth to ninth in points and from fifth to forty-second on the poll.
Sunday, August 23rd, we'll head to Bristol International Speedway in Tennessee, for the Sharpie 500. In 2007, Carl Edwards took the win for the Sharpie 500 and Kyle Busch won the Food City 500 at Bristol.
So, the Edwards and Busch battle is definitely not over. It will surely continue at the track in Bristol. Michigan International Speedway Poll Results 1). Carl Edwards 2). Kyle Busch 3).
