Pollards celebrate 60th Anniversary
      Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Pollard Jr. of Chandler, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday with a dinner for the family in Tyler. Combs-Payne to wed October 11
      The engagement of Brittni Channel Payne, and Chance Combs, both of Granbury, Texas is announced. The bride-elect's parents are Jeff and Jodie Payne of Granbury and she is the granddaughter of Ernest and Carol Dornhoefer, Chandler. She graduated Granbury High School in 2003 and Oklahoma State University in 2007 with a B.S. in Psychology.

      Sign-up time for the Henderson County 4-H Clover Kids will be September 7, 2008, at the Henderson County Extension Office at 2 PM. The meeting will consist of a Show and Tell. Athens Animal Shelter begins campaign for funds
      The Athens Animal Shelter is beginning a campaign to raise the funds to purchase Light Commercial washer and dryer. Such a system would reduce the number of wash loads from 7 per day, 6 days week to only ONE per day. This system is urgently needed and will cost approximately $10,000.

2008 Pow Wow Parade
"Education Excellence by BISD Teachers and Administrators" is parade theme!
      The 2008 Pow Wow Parade and Festival will be held on October 11, 2008. The annual Parade is one of the highlights of the Chandler community and we expect this year to be one of the best. The Chandler Lions Club will kick off the festivities with the annual parade line-up beginning at 8:30 AM and the parade beginning at 10:00 AM.

Beware of the `72' phone scam
      Be on the lookout for phone calls saying a loved one has been injured in an accident. Henderson County residents are receiving these calls, and the Henderson County Sheriff 's Department has called for caution. A spokesman from the sheriff's department stated the scam victim is called by an "authority" who claimed a family member was injured in a traffic accident.
