The 2008 Chandler Lions Club's Pow Wow Parade will focus on Education, promoting "Education Excellence by BISD Teachers and Administrators." Mr. Elton Caldwell, a fellow Lion and BISD Superintendent, will be the Parade Marshal. We look forward to a very successful parade on October 11, and hope each of you will participate.

The Lions Club is making a special appeal for used eyeglass donations. Donations are very important for recycling used glasses and frames within Texas, across the US, and around the world. Many people are desperately in need of corrective lenses, and yours may be the ones they can use. For the small amount of .10/per pair for cleaning, grading, and packaging, each pair can be recycled to someone somewhere in the world. Texas has one of the largest recycling programs of all Lions Clubs, and we are proud Chandler participates.

Collection boxes can be found at almost every church, numerous businesses around the county, Copeland's Drugs and God's Open Hands locations in Chandler. Your contribution of glasses and cases is deeply appreciated.

Again, we are appealing for addresses of military personnel from Henderson County so we can provide them with CARE packages and letters. Please send addresses to the Lions at P.O. Box 221, Chandler, TX 75758.

We hope you will help the Lions in a special fundraising activity by purchasing a chance to win a Caribbean cruise for two for five nights/four days. Contact any Lion or purchase tickets at Brookshires in Chandler on September 12 and 13. Each ticket is $25, and all proceeds support local youth projects. The final drawing will be October 7, and the cruise can be taken any time during the months of November, December and January, with your selection of destinations in the Caribbean.
