It's been a busy two weeks for the church on the lake. There are so many meetings and activities coming up. The word, "Christmas, " is even starting to be mentioned.

One of the most exciting events happening will be this Saturday, September 13th, at 4 PM at the church. At that time, a new baptismal font will be dedicated in honor of Dr. Gary Fitzgerald and Mavis Griffith and in memory of Margie Jordan. Both Gary and Mavis will be on hand for the event, and we even hear that Gary's mother will be attending. There will be a reception immediately following the service. Everyone is invited to attend.

This past Sunday the 11 AM service was delighted to have Gail Johnston and Susan Romo singing a special. It was really beautiful.

It was nice to have Roland and Gail Massey back from Colorado although we hear they have come down with the sniffles.

Rich and Donna Franko tried to take another trip this week, but they had to change their plans when Donna's back pain required a trip to the doctor.

Speaking of back pain, Herb Botts was helping Bernard Massey with something last Saturday and he threw his back out. Bobbie Mathus, who had major back surgery last week, is now home recuperating. We are grateful for answered prayers there.

Ken Cade is back from a short trip to Costa Rica. He came home right as Hurricane Gustav was hitting the shores of Louisiana.

It was good to see Trudy Riddle in church on Sunday, but she says Fred still needs our prayers as he recovers from his surgery this past summer.

Miranda Rowan has been having a time of it as she tries to start the second grade in Bullard this year. She has been fighting an infection for which the doctors are having a hard time finding the right medicine. As of Sunday, she was doing better, but her mom, Betsy is still watching her closely and waiting for more doctors' reports.

We hear Bill Martin got a nice new riding lawn mower recently. Now it won't take any time at all to mow his yard. Along with this, he also is waiting on a report from the doctor.

Bernard and Linda Massey are back from traveling around with their sons and family. They will be here only a short time before they will be on the road again.

Carla Fisher has returned from her business trip last week, and now she is busy preparing the fall music schedule. Christmas rehearsals are starting soon and are open to anyone in the church even if they are not normally in the choir.

There will be a baby shower for Donna Sullivan this Sunday at 3 PM. She knows the little one is a boy and she is registered at Wal-Mart and Babies `R Us. That should be a fun event.

Also, this coming Sunday will be the monthly fellowship meal immediately after church. Everyone is invited to attend.
