St. Boniface Catholic

by Sue Beams

On the Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time, at the 12:00 Mass in Spanish, members welcomed back Fr. Jesse Arroyave as celebrant. It was indeed a delight and a blessing to see Fr. Jesse again! In his usual jubilant manner he spoke of the importance of the message we heard in the Gospel. The common thread in today's readings is speaking out in love against wickedness. We are called to extend the love of Jesus to those who aren't always easy to love. We are to speak out to dissuade the wicked from his way. St. Paul says we are to owe nothing to anyone except to love one another. When we gather together in His name, He is in our midst.

Again, what a joy it was to have Fr. Jesse back at St. Boniface, even if for only a day! Fr. Jesse, we continue to keep you in our prayers and ask you to do likewise. God bless you!

The Altar Society will begin meeting the second Monday of each month. President Iris Mamo will lead the ladies of the parish in the coming months in prayer and service.

It's that time of year; the St. Boniface garage sale! Please join us on Friday, September 12th and Saturday, September 13th. Donations are being accepted and items should be priced before dropping them off at the church. Volunteers are needed to insure a successful fundraiser! Contact Dalia Earl for more information.

Please check out the information tables in the community room so you don't miss out on any of the upcoming activities and events. Sign up for Faith Formation classes, register your children for CCD classes, and learn about events throughout the Diocese, including information about Discipleship Month in October.

Congratulations and best wishes to all who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. We pray for those who are sick and suffering that they may find comfort in Christ, Jesus. We pray also for the faithful departed that they eternally rest in Christ, Jesus. We continue to pray for those in the armed services.

May God bless you all.
