Union Hill Baptist
As most of you know, Brother Bill and Ms. Charlie were absent Sunday, due to a death in the family back in North Carolina. The prayers of their church family are with them, as well as others in our church who need comfort at this time.
In Brother Bill's absence, Brother Matt Hollingsworth was with us again and it was a joy to have him. Both in the morning service and evening, he brought us good, strong messages. We need to keep in mind his closing words on Sunday evening, that we are God's best Bible Tracks!
Beginning next Sunday, October 5th through Wednesday the 8th, Union Hill will be in Revival, led by Brother Dennis Erwin. Along with Brother Dennis, we will be blessed by the singing of the Erwin children. Most of you know Brother Dennis and family, however, for those of you who don't, let me invite you now. Don't miss this chance!! The evening service on Sunday will begin at 6:00 p.m. The Monday through Wednesday services will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Tonight, Thursday, October 2nd, it's time for Senior Moments at Union Hill. Come join us at 7:00 p.m. for an evening of fun and fellowship ... bring snacks.
The Ladies Retreat scheduled for October 17th through the 18th has been temporarily postponed. Be patient! We'll have more details for you later.
I know you're excited about the beginning of the AWANA program. It starts Sunday evening, October 12th. Encourage your children to come. This is a wonderful opportunity for them.
The ladies Silent Auction is coming ... now is the time to begin bringing your items for auction. We are looking for new, gently used, antique and collectible items that we can put in the auction. There are already some really neat items on display.
As publicized previously, the second annual cancer run was made last weekend, beginning at Scooter Pete's in Tyler and ending at Wal-Mart in Athens. The fundraiser auction was to benefit nine-yearold leukemia victim, Jake Hardin. Participants in the event were our own Wheels of Mercy Motorcycle Ministry, Harvestime Riders Motorcycle Ministry, Dragoons Motorcycle Club and Scimitars Motorcycle Club. One hundred seventy bikes participated in the run. Many thanks to Wal-Mart Transportation, Athens Power Sports, Smith County Constables' office, Chandler and Brownsboro Police Departments and a special thanks to Scooter Pete for hosting the event. Because of faith, prayers and support, we know that Jake is on the road to being cancer free.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 8th. It's time for the Wheels of Mercy Bikefest. There will be bike games, music, preaching and lots of good food. We'll have more information for you as the time gets closer.
Some of you asked about the ending on last week's article ... what the "waiting" referred to. I was referring to the closing of Brother Bill's message taken from Matthew 24:42 and 44. While we're waiting for that glorious time, we need to be in prayer for our leaders and for our country and we thank you for doing just that. Our Father will guide us if we'll just let him. Thanks for asking. The King's children need to speak up, don't we! See you on the hill.
