Services for Glenward D. Vest, 76, Brownsboro, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Leagueville Baptist Church with Tom Bragdon and Tommy Weems officiating.

Burial was in Jennings Mountain Cemetery under direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Athens.

Mr. Vest died September 25, 2008, at his residence.

He was born July 28, 1932, in Bryan County, Okla., to the late Leroy and Bessie Lee Gunkel Vest. He moved to Texas in 1948 and attended schools in Celina. He was a ranch manager all his life with a specialty of breeding and training show horses. He was a member of Leagueville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Vest, Brownsboro; sons, Glen Vest and Len Vest, both of Brownsboro, Ken Vest, Murchison; daughter, Sherri Chambers, Brownsboro; brothers, Ocie Vest, Paradise, Cecil Vest and Bill Vest, both of Celina, Freddy Vest, Pilot Point, Paul Vest, Brownsboro; sisters, Murlene Clark and Patricia Fraze, both of Calera, Okla., Colene Reed, Dallas, Emogene Moore and Imogene Gibson, both of Plano, Fayola Reeder, Celina, Trenna Glasscock, Quinlan, and Bernice Stubblefield, Bullard; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
