Freshman Bears get first win

The first touchdown was made by Keuntis Thompson on a 65-yard run. Thompson also ran the ball in for the two-point conversion, making the score 8-0.
On the kickoff, DZ Moss recovered a fumble and the Bears recovered. Thompson scored on the same play and his two-point conversion was good.
The first quarter ended with 16-0 on the score board.
In the second quarter, the defense held and the Bears scored a third touchdown. This time it was a screen from Cody Strickland to Mikey Ramirez that went for 55-yards. Nick Jones caught a pass from Strickland, in the endzone, for the two-point conver- sion. The second quarter ended 24-0.
The Wildcats came back into the third quarter ready to score. Rains got their first touchdown of the game with 3:42 left on the clock. Bear Nick Jones wasn't finished either. On first and ten Jones ran for a 64-yard touchdown with 3:21 left in the third quarter. The Bears missed their two-point conversion. The score, 30-6. Rains scored a second touchdown and the third quarter ended 30-12.
"We played better this week and the biggest difference was the enthusiasm of our guys," said Coach Hutchins. "They were energetic and played with emotion. We also had a great week of practice."
This week the freshman Bears will have an open date, but will host the Westwood Panthers of Palestine, on October 9, in the first district game of the season.
