District play is here and the Bears are ready
      The Brownsboro Bears will play the first district 20-3A game, Friday, October 10, against Westwood in the Panther Stadium. Kickoff will begin at 7:30p.m. Westwood is currently 2-3. Their losses came up against Chapel Hill, Bullard and Arp. They defeated Madisonville and Groesbeck. Quarterback Tevin Watson is leading the Panthers in rushing yards with 275 and 6 touchdowns.

According to Jim Hunter, NASCAR's vice president of corporate communications, "You cannot improve your position anytime you go below the yellow line.

Berkley Tournament set for Lake Fork
      The month of October is shaping up to be one of the greatest months to be an angler in Texas. Berkley Fishing is sponsoring a fishing tournament, which will take place in Lake Fork, Texas. Berkley is also sending the Berkley Experience Trailer and Bass Tanks to Lake Fork that includes interactive games and demonstrations for the entire family.

Bearettes win again
      The Varsity Bearettes took on Crockett's Lady Bulldogs Friday, October 3, in the Brownsboro High School Gym. This win over Crockett puts the Bearettes 2-1 in district and 12-10 overall. The Bearettes won four games; 25-15, 26- 24, 27-29 and 25-23.

New TTAS Girls' softball league to hit Chandler
      The City of Chandler has announced that a new TTAS Girls' softball league will be coming to Winchester Park next spring after a year's absence. When the board of East Texas Girls' Softball elected to move all of their games to Brownsboro last year, many parents contacted City Hall expressing their desire to have their daughter be allowed to continue to play in Chandler.

The junior high Bear results
      The junior high Bears hosted Van, to take on the the Vandals, Tuesday, September 31 and Thursday, October 2. Both 7th grade teams and 8B won, while the 8A lost. Bears 7A team won 14-6 over Van Scoring for the Bears were Quintas Lee and Swaide Houston hauled in a touchdown from Tyler Thomison. Defensively the Bears were led by Michael Penny and Tanner Essary.
