"In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; God has made the one as well as the other, so that mortals may not find out anything that will come after them." Ecclesiastes 7:14
During these days of financial concerns, of worry over revenue lost, of anger of those that supposedly caused the situations, we can use our time troubling over what will come, or place our faith in God. The following quote came from Helen Mallicoat in her publication called Holy Sweat. May it bring you comfort. "I was regretting the past and fearing the future. Suddenly my Lord was speaking: "My name is I AM." He paused I waited. He continued. "When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets, it is hard. I am not there. My name is not `I was'. When you live in the future, with its problems and fears, it is hard. I am not there. My name is not `I will be'. When you live in the moment, it is not hard. I am here. My name is I AM." A man named Peirre de Caussade once wrote: "To escape the distress caused by regret for the past or fear about the future, this is the rule to follow; leave the past to the infinite mercy of God, the future to his good providence, give the present wholly to his love by being faithful to his grace."
Whoever our nation leaders may be this week, may God in his ultimate wisdom, provide guidance and wise counsel to each and every one. God bless our Country and all who live within.
Debbie Taylor, coordinator for the blood drive, is looking for a record donation for this year. The drive is scheduled for Sunday, November 16th from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Youth Room. Sign-up sheets will be available in all adult Sunday school rooms next Sunday, and Debbie will be available to sign you up before church. The sign-up sheet will ask you to choose a time to give. If we get too many at one time, Debbie may need to call and have you choose a different time so she would appreciate your flexability. If you have need for additional information, call Mrs. Taylor at 903-849- 6005 or the church office. Won't you save a life and give blood? Jesus gave His blood for us, so we can give our blood for others.
Have you ever felt that God may be calling you for more than church attendance or Bible studies? Have you felt the Christian call to service but not clear how to put this into action? Consider the UM Army program. It could mean a life altering experience. Call John Taylor. Tell him your desire to help and the skills you have. The UM Army provides an opportunity for young people to be of service, but adults are needed as well. UM Army will be in Clear Lake December 28th until January 3rd. Deposit of $25 will be needed this week. Try the UM Army; it will fill the emptiness in your heart and enrich your soul.
The United Methodist Women are out and about inviting all to participate in our UMW programs. Recognizing the time limitations on many women, they will be scheduling quarterly meeting during the coming year. But the November and December meetings will be a good time to get to know each other and the plans for the coming year. Put Nov. 19th on your calendar and join in the sharing of blessing of the past year, the year of the mission trip to Africa! Then in January the meeting will be held in the McGill's home, to celebrate the holiday season. Remember, the UMW welcomes all, so bring a friend.
The United Methodist Men's Rally will be held this year at the Marvin UMC Saturday, November 1, from 10 till 12 p.m. They will be assembling Flood Buckets for the UMCOR, the Methodist relief project that assists families during natural disasters.

Thought of the Week: "I will put this third into the fire, refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them." Zechariah 13:9
