Brownsboro's Varsity Bears are headed to the playoffs! The football game, against Waco La Vega, will be held in the Mesquite Memorial Stadium at 405 East Davis St., in Mesquite, TX., on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 2p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $4 students/$6 for adults and can be purchased at the administration office at the high school. Tickets will be $7 if purchased at the gate. Come out and support the Bears!

The Final Curtain Players present Once Upon a Mattress, the musical on Sat., Nov. 22, at 7p.m., in the BHS theater bldg. Sunday matinee at 2p.m. Admission is free. Canned donations requested.

Forest Grove Community Center re-run Garage Sale Fri. and Sat., Nov. 14 and 15, at 7a.m. until all gone. Lots of cheap good stuff left over. Just 8-miles South of Chandler on 315. Look for the signs.

Calvary Baptist Church would like to announce new activities; Children's Church Sunday School classes for all ages, Family Fun Night is the 1st Wed. of each month starting at 6p.m., Adult and Children's Choir and many other exciting happenings. All are welcome to come and worship with us.

The Thanksgiving Community Worship service will be held in the BHS auditorium on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 6p.m. All of the community is invited to join.

The Henderson County Humane Society Animal Shelter is running low on supplies and needs your help. Most in demand are bales of hay, bleach, Special Kitty Litter-red bag(nonscoopable), paper towels, liquid laundry soap, canned cat food and dry puppy food. The shelter's hours of operation are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Southern Gospel Concert is coming to Athens with HisSong from Tennessee also His Call QT. and Tracy Thompson from Texas, on Nov. 15 at the Texas Gospel Music Hall located 6513 Hwy. 19 S. Athens. Brownsboro Young Farmers monthly meeting meets the second Tuesday of every month in the Ag./Vocation bldg. at the high school 6:30pm

Golden Girls Booster Club meets Thursday at 6:30 pm in the High School Little Theatre.

Brownsboro Beautification Organization meets every first Thursday at 7 pm in the Brownsboro community center. Any interested in Brownsboro Beautification are welcome to attend.

The Ladies Auxiliary of Post #5073 are sponsoring an art contest that could bring as much as $10,000 toward a high school student's college education. The student is eligible to enter the Patriotic Art Contest. There will be a winner from each post in Texas. Edom Bakery and Grill is looking for a Guest Chef every Wednesday night through September. The Bakery will provide 5 X 7 cards on which to submit a favorite recipe. Drop it into the fishbowl at the bakery and, if selected, the recipe donor will be the guest chef with the recipe becoming the Wednesday night special.

Storytime at the Chandler Library for preschool - 3rd grade will be every Thursday. There will also be a special Saturday morning program for 4th - 7th grade readers. Starting time for this group is at 9:30 am.

Calvary Baptist in Brownsboro will hold a prayer breakfast on the second Saturday of each month with Pastor John Parker. Good food and fellowship, come 8 am.

Bread of Life Distribution Food Bank on the third Saturday of each month. 8 am - 12 pm. Any volunteers would be accepted and appreciated. Calvary Baptist hosts this food bank for public awareness.

Lake Palestine United Methodist Church has collected the best recipes from group members, family, and friends and compiled them into an attractive, keepsake cookbook. The cookbooks may be purchased from any church member, or at the church. All proceeds will go to the Angel Food Trailer Fund. The cookbook contains 357 recipes. The Kickapoo Creek Kiwanis meets at noon, each Wednesday, at Piggy's Too.

The Chandler Lions Club meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month in the Chandler Community Center at 7pm. Meetings consist of dinner, meeting and a program. Anyone interested in giving back to the community through the Lions organization is invited to attend.

The Disabled American Veterans & Auxiliary meets the 2nd Monday of the month at the Senior Citizens Center, next to the Fairgrounds on Hwy. 31 east in Athens. A covered dish meal is served at 6:30pm with the meeting to follow. All members and prospective members are urged to attend.
