EAST TEXAS MOM
Her hair is gray now, the wrinkles abound; Her East Texas face has a permanent frown. Years of hard work, and East Texas demands Have left their marks on her East Texas hands. Material things are not important at all, This East Texas Mom wants nothing at all, Just to have a laugh and peaceful East Texas day, Canning peaches and putting vegetables away. Singing to the heavens and ringing her bells, Not carrying a tune, but still does it well. This East Texas Mom with washboard in hand, Loves to dance and yell "Howdy" in the East Texas sand. She loves her children regardless of their strife, This East Texas Mom will love them as long as she has life. She loves her East Texas Shug and her East Texas pines, She just loves being in an East Texas state of mind. Her clothes are not stylish, no makeup to wear, These things aren't important, she knows God doesn't care. God doesn't care if she can carry a tune, Whether she's all made up or smells of perfume. God knows this East Texas Mom is sometimes misunderstood, But He knows her intentions are meant to be good. Never complaining, always a smile, This East Texas Mom has gone many a mile. God knows the sacrifices this East Texas Mom made; Her East Texas kindness will not go unpaid. Our East Texas Mom has earned her place near the throne; She'll sing with the angels when God calls her home. by Elizabeth Ann Covington Horner (written July 20, 2005)LIFE GETS TEDIOUS, DON'T IT?
I try to be positive, always have. But sometimes, I feel like I've taken a left jab. Try to do right with everyone concerned; It never fails, you gonna' get burned. I get down in the dumps over every little thing. Taking every kind of supplement, even Ginseng. Nothing seems to help ... just can't find my niche. Just want to be happy, don't wanna' be rich. I've got everything to look forward to; Wife, kids, grandkids and sister named Sue. Gonna' get out of these doldrums, gonna' get happy. Got enough going for me to make me slap a pappy. Gonna' start doing some things I wanna' do. Gonna' spend some money and do some traveling too. Seems like I'm happiest when I'm around grandkids; Of all the good things, that's the best my girls ever did.by Dwayne Garner
