Adair wins Santa Gertrudis class
      Several members of the Kickapoo Creek 4-H Club participated in the Edgewood FFA Livestock Show in Canton, Texas. In the Polled Hereford classes, Bryce Williams placed 4th, Zachary Williams placed 2nd, and Casey Williams placed 4th. In the Shorthorn classes Zachary Williams placed 2nd.

      Miss Becky Cox and Mr. Austen Hargrave were united in marriage on October 31, 2008 at 2 p.m. in a private garden ceremony. The ceremony was officiated by the bride's brother, Staff Sergeant Kevin Cox. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cox of Athens, Texas. The bride's grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Cox of Lubbock, Texas.

Christmas Tour of Homes
      Women's Unity Fellowship has announced participants in this year's Christmas Tour of Homes. The annual event will be held from 6:00- 9:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8. Also included in the activities will be the Tour of Trees at the First United Methodist Church in Chandler on December 7 and 8.

Humane Society
      The Henderson County Humane Society in Athens is celebrating the month of November, which is "Adopt a Senior Pet Month," by offering any senior pets we have at the shelter for a lower adoption fee. The fee for dogs over seven years old is $70.00 and the fee for cats is $35.00. These prices include spay/neuter, rabies shot, worming and other shots.
