Union Hill had a special guest speaker Sunday morning, Brother and Sister John Lindsey, Missionaries to Africa. Beginning with the reading of Second Peter 1:2- 3, Brother John brought us an enlighening account of just what God is doing in ten Western African nations, particularly the life and spiritual awakening of one young man. In the past twelve years, Brother John and Sister Margaret have witnessed 150,000 professions of faith. If you missed brother John, you missed a blessing. In closing he asked for our prayers as they continue to spread God's Word.

Sunday morning, special recognition was given to four young members of the Union Hill family. It was with great pride that Brother Bill recognized Freshmen Bear Football Team players Cody Strickland, Cameron Boyd, Taylor Woodruff and R.J. Newsome. It was a great season for these young men as they won the District Championship and we thank God for watching over and protecting them, along with their fellow players.

For those of you who missed the "Ladies Night In," Saturday, it was a rousing success. Sunday morning found about twenty-five ladies sporting beautiful, bright manicures but it was so cold, not many shiny toes were visible!! The ladies were treated to a devotional by Glenda Wallace and a wonderful salad supper. Proceeds from the fun evening will go toward the Toy Run for the Baptist Children's Home.

Sunday, November 23rd is the evening for the Community Thanksgiving Service to be held at the High School. Because all will be in attendance at the community service, there will be no evening service at Union Hill nor an Awana meeting that Sunday evening.

On the following Wednesday, November 26th, there will be no evening service at Union Hill, so that church members may participate in family gatherings. The beautiful "Hanging of the Greens" will happen on Wednesday evening, December 3rd, followed by the serving of refreshments in fellowship hall. Hope to see you there. Ladies, start making plans to attend the Women's Christmas Dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9th. Our own Nita Sargent will bring the devotional. You don't want to miss this. More, later.

To you ladies and men too, don't forget the food drive currently going on through the month of November. It appears that the girls and the boys have a friendly competition going on, so help fill the barrel of your choice with foods to warm needy families.

Now, at this time of thanksgiving, we join with you as we reflect on God's blessings this year. He was there to encourage us, when we were deep in those valleys, when we strayed. He forgave us and gently showed us the way back and He smiled on us when we reached to the top of the mountain. When we were sick, scared or lonely, He was there to comfort us and when we were undecided, He was there to guide us. Above all and through all, He was always there to love us. Truly this is a time of thanksgiving for all the blessings we've received.

From all of us at Union Hill Baptist, we wish you a wonderful holiday with your family and friends. For those of you traveling, we pray God will grant you traveling mercies. According to Brother John Lindsey, as our African brothers and sisters in Christ would say, "Nyame Shrow Wo" (God Bless You). See you on the hill.
