The Henderson County Humane Society in Athens is celebrating the month of November, which is "Adopt a Senior Pet Month," by offering any senior pets we have at the shelter for a lower adoption fee. The fee for dogs over seven years old is $70.00 and the fee for cats is $35.00. These prices include spay/neuter, rabies shot, worming and other shots. Senior animals still have many years of love to give. They are more settled, usually housebroken, and often just want to curl up in a warm lap and have a stable home to live in.

In addition to it being "Adopt a Senior Pet Month," we have decided to also declare it "Adopt a Senior Person" month for November. Any person who is 55 or older may adopt an animal from our shelter for the above fees for the rest of November. We do require you fill out a preadoption form so that we can determine if the animal you are interested in is right for your home and that your home is right for the animal.

Please come by the shelter in Athens from 9:00 to 3:00 Tuesday through Saturday if you are interested in finding a wonderful companion or see www.petfinder.com for pictures of many of the animals now at our shelter. You may also call 903-677-7387 to inquire about our policies. Your Best Friend is Waiting!!!
