What seemed like a promising game for the Bears in the beginning, with Brownsboro taking the lead in the first quarter and proving why they made it to the playoffs in the first place, it quickly diminished when Waco La Vega's defense got a second wind. Even though the game did not end in favor of the Bears (42-7) Brownsboro played their hearts out in the Class AAA Division I bi-district game, and finished the season (6- 5), at Mesquite Memorial Stadium, Saturday, November 15.
The only touchdown of the game for the Bears came on a 54-yard pass from Ryan Owens to Keith Johnson with 4:31 left in the first quarter. Ryan Smith's kick put the score at 7-6 and Brownsboro led well into the second quarter.
The Bears came so very close to another touchdown when Tristain Warren caught a pass from Zach Bailey and ran it into the endzone for a 46-yard TD. This hope was shattered when Warren received a penalty for pass interference and the Bears were moved back 15-yards.

With two seconds left in the first half, and Waco La Vega on the Bears 1-yard line, the Pirates scored on fourth and goal and the half ended 14-7.
On Brownsboro's first possession of the third quarter, Bailey stepped in again as quarterback, but Waco La Vega's defense dominated forcing the Bears to go three-and-out.
The Pirates scored again on their next possession on a 39- yard run with 7:35 remaining in the third quarter. The kick for the extra point was good and the score climbed 21-7.
Brownsboro then fumbled on the kickoff and the Pirates recovered, only to score approximately one minute later, on first and goal. The kick was good and the score 28-7.
Waco La Vega would end the third quarter, 17 seconds left, with a 24-yard touchdown pass and a good kick.
The game would end with another Pirate TD in the fourth quarter on a 13-yard pass. With 9:20 left to play, Waco La Vega's kick was good and the score would stay at 42-7, Pirates.
The "flag raining" game ended with a total of 26 penalties; 11 of those on Waco La Vega who gave up 81- yards and the other 15 to Brownsboro who gave up 138-yards.
