The public is invited to join the Friends of the Chandler Public Library at the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Coffee, Sat., Jan.5 from 9:30- 11:00 AM at the library. All volunteers will be presented special recognition awards. Georgia Starkey will be honored for her 25 years as a library volunteer.

Country Music at Poynor Civic Center- First Thursday. Free Admission. Thursday, Jan. 3, Frankston Health Care Center will prepare soup and cornbread. The meal will be served from 6- 7:30 PM. Donations for the food will benefit the residents of Frankston Healthcare Center. Anyone who wishes may bring a dessert. For further information call 903-360-0766. Brownsboro Girl's Little Dribblers will have a mandatory coaches meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 7 PM, at the Brownsboro Old Intermediate Gym. Topics will include the draft, practice times, and season schedules. The draft will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 6:30 PM. The location will be announced at the coaches meeting. Chandler 4-H Club will meet Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 7 PM in the gymnasium of Faith Baptist Church, FM 315 S, Chandler. The club is selling tickets for a Savage 17 HMR (rifle) with scope and hard case for $5 per ticket; $10 for 3 tickets, or $20 for 6 tickets. See a club member or call (903) 681-3161.

Casey Rivers will be performing at First Baptist Church of Edom 9714 FM 314 on Sunday, Jan. 6 during morning worship service. Morning worship service begins at 10:45 AM. Everyone welcome to attend. Palmetto State QT. from South Carolina will be performing on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Texas Gospel Music Hall on 6513 HWY 19 South in Athens Also in concert will be Lifeway Trio of Athens and special guest, Joseph Ellenberg, of Longview. The concert will start at 6PM, but the doors will open at 5PM. Reserved seat tickets are $15, Advance Tickets General Admission is $12, day of the concert $15. Tickets are available at The Scroll in Tyler, First State Bank on the square in Athens, and Music Hall by calling 903-677- 2492.

The Chamber Banquet and Silent Auction will be Thursday, February 7.

Starting Dec. 13 and every Thursday following, St. Stephen's Anglican Church in Athens will host a day care service for Senior Citizens at 2101 East College St. Care will be available from 8AM-4PM. Lunch will be served at noon. The fee for the service is $4 for the first hour and $3 for each additional hour. There are limitations on guests that may be accommodated; reservations are required. Urgent! Meals On Wheels in the Chandler area is in Real Need for a volunteer to deliver meals to some people. This is an opportunity for someone to give back and receive a blessing. It will only take about an hour of your time to deliver to 25 needy individuals in our community and for only one day a week. Lake Palestine United Methodist Church has collected the best recipes from group members, family, and friends and compiled them into an attractive, keepsake cookbook. They will begin selling them on Nov. 12. The cookbooks may be purchased from any church member, or at the church. All proceeds will go to the Angel Food Trailer Fund. Story-time for pre-schoolers resumed at the Chandler Public Library beginning Thursday, Sept. 13, at 10:00 AM. Interested persons can call the library at 903-849-4122 for more information.

The Chandler Lions Club meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month in the Chandler Community Center at 7pm. Meetings consist of dinner, meeting and a program. Anyone interested in giving back to the community through the Lions organization is invited to attend.

The Disabled American Veterans & Auxiliary meets the 2nd Monday of the month at the Senior Citizens Center, next to the Fairgrounds on Hwy. 31 east in Athens. A covered dish meal is served at 6:30pm with the meeting to follow. All members and prospective members are urged to attend. The Brownsboro City Council meets in regular session on the second Thursday of the month, at 5pm at City Hall.

Boy Scout Troop 342 meets every Monday night, at 6:30pm., at Chandler United Methodist Church. Cub Scouts meet in the youth building of the church at 7pm.

The Moore Station City Council will hold its monthly meetings the 1st Monday of each month at 6pm in the Community Center.
