Gold Rush Days Held

A large crowd enjoyed the day at East Texas Savings and Loan Association in Chandler last Friday as the company celebrated its fiftieth anniversary with Gold Rush activities. Approximately 1500 person were served.

Mrs. Cleo Pickett and Mrs. Sheila May did a good job sponsoring the various events. They were assisted by Mrs. Nell Jedlicka. All were attired in earlier-day costumes.

There was a drawing in the evening for prizes. Roy Clark, Tyler, won the first prize, a set of uncirculated gold coins; Don Copeland, Chandler, second, a set of brass candlesticks; Terry Thedford, Chandler, third, 14- karat Cross pen and pencil set.

A featured attraction at the celebration was the 1928 Model A Ford owned by A.P. Youngblood.

Piddle Parker Services Held

Funeral services for S.F. "Piddle" Parker, 63, of Brownsboro were held at Leagueville Baptist Church Tuesday with the Rev. Billy Watson and the Rev. J.D. Johnston officiating.

Burial was in Leagueville Cemetery under direction of Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.

Mr. Parker was a native and lifelong resident of Brownsboro.. He operated a grocery store there for 26 years. He was a Mason and a member of Leagueville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Parker; one son, Selman Parker, Brownsboro; one daughter, Mrs. Jane Shell of Palestine; one brother, G.W. Parker, Brownsboro; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Gerrol Parker, Richard Parker, Mickey Parker, Jerry Gideon, Jody Fowler, Larry Jordan, Bill Eberhart and Fowler Jones.

David Duke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Wayne Duke, is improving following a broken knee which he suffered in a basketball game.

Miss Alice Reagan returned to Houston Sunday after spending a week with her parents, County Judge and Mrs. Winston Reagan.
