The 17th annual Kaufman Holiday Classic was a tournament the Brownsboro Bears would like to forget.

While the complete results from the tournament were not available as of press time Monday, the Bears lost two of three games played in pool play.

Brownsboro's lone win in pool play was a 46-25 victory against Kemp.

Forney won the tournament title with a 72-69 victory over Westwood. Forney, a Class 4A school defeated Kemp 83-33 to open the tournament's pool play and defeated the Bears 57-47.

Class 2A's Krum Bobcats won the third place crown in the tournament. Last Thursday the Bears began pool play with an early game against the Krum Bobcats. Krum won 47-42.

Brownsboro controlled the game from early on but quick into the fourth period the Bobcats tied the game at 35 before taking the lead.

During the first half of play the Bears overcame a press defense by the `Cats and made a high percentage of their shots.

In the second half of play the `Cats did not allow the Bears very many second chance shots and created turnovers using a press defense.

Keaton Parsell led the Bears in scoring with 16 points. Parsell also nailed the Bears' only three pointer of the game.

On Friday the Bears faced off against Kemp and Forney.

Andrew Adair led both teams in scoring with 10 points as the Bears rolled past Kemp 46-25. Brownsboro outscored the Yellow Jackets in every period.

While trailing most of the contest the Bears fought hard against Forney in the final pool game. Forney defeated the Bears by ten, 57-47.

Three Bears scored in double figures against Forney. Ryan Smith led all players in scoring with 20 points while Keaton Parsell (13) and Tristian Warren (11) also scored in double figures.

Smith was on fire from behind the three point line as he nailed three 3-pointers.

Brownsboro (10-10 after the loss to Forney) will host Mabank on January 8 before starting District 14-3A play on Friday, January 11 against Canton in Brownsboro.
