CHRISTMAS EVE TRADITION
Sometimes new fallen snow lay soft and deep
And the stars twinkled clear and bright,
On long-ago Christmas Eves at our farm in the hills.
When the chores were finished and supper cleared away,
The Christmas tree was decorated and the candles lit,
Then, with popcorn and apples we'd gather around the fireside.
Surrounded by love and peace and the firelight's soft glow,
Mama would read from the Bible the Christmas story
Of Mary and Joseph on their way to the city of Bethlehem,
And how there was no room for them at the inn.
Then, she'd light a special candle and place it in the window,
A tradition she faithfully observed.
It was, she said, a beacon to guide their way
Through the night and to let them know
There was room for them at our house.

HAPPINESS
I met God in the morning
As the sun came into view,
The day's work was before us,
For my Lord and me to do.
When day was done and evening
Filled the west with colors gay,
My Lord and I were happy;
We had had a busy day.

QUEST
Stars light the nighttime sky
So I may continue
Unending my quest to find you.
My quest to find you
Can only end
When I place
My arms around you,
My love in your heart,
And my image in your eyes!

CHILDREN
Children are to be happy.
Safe from sickness and infirmity.
Not to be worried or afraid,
I think that's an even trade.
Free to walk, skip, jump or run,
Free to learn about God's Son.
Teach them how to bloom and grow,
You'll learn more than you will know.
Take the time to meet their need,
For glory does from God proceed.
