Kickapoo Creek 4H Club News
Shotgun raffle ticket winner announced

The 2007 Kickapoo Creek 4H Club seems to be growing by leaps and bounds, or should I say activities and animals. Several Club members have been busy showing their animals at the East Texas State Fair, the Edgewood Jackpot show, and the Texas Polled Hereford Show. Club members Zachary and Brandon Adair represented the club well at the Henderson County Food Show during October. Both of these members brought home blue ribbons, and Brandon advances to the District level with his healthy snack food.

During the months of October and November all of the club members were busy selling raffle tickets for a Benelli Shotgun. The club is very excited about the success of this raffle all because of the kind hearts of many East Texans.

This raffle earned the club over $2,000, which in return allowed the club to give 50 percent of these earnings back to each selling member to use on project expenses. The Kickapoo Creek 4H Club is proud to announce the winner of this raffle as Terry Chapman of Brownsboro. Ms. Chapman purchased her winning ticket from 4H member Chance Ridgeway. Congratulations, Ms. Chapman and thanks to all of those who supported our club.

Although the December meeting was a little short on member attendance, the information gained was very useful. The club meeting was informed on the basics of swine raising by Buddy Payne. Many members improved their knowledge of swine raising, and were given the opportunity to ask questions, as well as give their personal experiences of raising show hogs. To add to this swine topic, Zachary and Brandon Adair supplied the club with a snack of pigs-ina blanket. The club extends a hearty thank you to Mr. Payne for giving of his time and knowledge to "make the best better."

The Kickapoo Creek 4H Club meets at the Opelika Missionary Baptist Church on CR 3520 on the second Monday of each month. Their next meeting will be Monday, January 14th at 6:30 pm.
