James Emerson Chapman Services for James Emerson Chapman, 86, of Brownsboro were held Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at the United Methodist Church, Brownsboro with Bro. D.M. `Pete' Chapman, the Rev. Earnest Elliott and the Rev. Kevin Otto officiating. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors, Tyler. Mr. Chapman died Jan. 1, 2008, in Tyler. He was born Feb. 1, 1921, in Murchison to the late James A. and Effie Callaham Chapman. He graduated from Brownsboro High in 1939. He entered the Navy during World War II where he served four years. He owned and operated the general merchandise Holiman store thirty years before retiring. Mr. Chapman was a 60-year Master Mason where he served as Worshipful Master. He served as fire chief of the Brownsboro Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brownsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Evelyn Carver and Margie Ruth Jarett; and a brother, Ted F. Chapman. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia Holiman Chapman; brothers, D.M. `Pete' Chapman and wife, Fay, and Jerry Chapman and wife, Peggy. Pallbearers were Rickey Carver, Sam Young, Gary Mallory, Sky Young, Dan Mark Chapman and Dawson Beeson. 1 column x 6 inches Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. |
