The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #932 will meet on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7 PM in Tyler at Traditions Restaurant on 6205 S. Broadway. Member ship is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) between Feb. 28, 1961- May 7, 1975, (in Vietnam), or between Aug. 5, 1964-May 7, 1975 for Vietnamera veterans. Keep Chandler Beautiful will be meeting on Jan. 17 at 7 PM at the Community Center.

The Texas Rangers will visit Tyler on Thursday, Jan. 17 as part of their "Winter Caravan". Jerrod Saltalamacchia along with 3 other Rangers will be at the Hollytree Country Club for a luncheon hosted by Felicano Financial from 12:30-2 PM. Tickets are still available at $25 each. Faith Baptist Church in Chandler will have their Movie Night on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 6 PM. They will be showing the "Chronicles of Narnia". A concession stand will be provided.

East Texas Girls Softball has a "planning meeting" scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2 PM at the Chandler Elementary Cafeteria. All people interesting in helping with the league this year, please plan to attend. All current coaches or those interested in coaching a team this season are encouraged to attend as well. Palmetto State QT. from South Carolina will be performing on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Texas Gospel Music Hall on 6513 HWY 19 South in Athens Also in concert will be Lifeway Trio of Athens and special guest, Joseph Ellenberg, of Longview. The concert will start at 6PM, but the doors will open at 5PM. Reserved seat tickets are $15, Advance Tickets General Admission is $12, day of the concert $15. Starting Dec. 13 and every Thursday following, St. Stephen's Anglican Church in Athens will host a day care service for Senior Citizens at 2101 East College St. Care will be available from 8AM-4PM. Lunch will be served at noon. The fee for the service is $4 for the first hour and $3 for each additional hour. There are limitations on guests that may be accommodated; reservations are required. Urgent! Meals On Wheels in the Chandler area is in Real Need for a volunteer to deliver meals to some people. This is an opportunity for someone to give back and receive a blessing. It will only take about an hour of your time to deliver to 25 needy individuals in our community and for only one day a week. Lake Palestine United Methodist Church has collected the best recipes from group members, family, and friends and compiled them into an attractive, keepsake cookbook. They will begin selling them on Nov. 12. The cookbooks may be purchased from any church member, or at the church. All proceeds will go to the Angel Food Trailer Fund.
