Friends & Flowers Garden Club news What better way to start off the new year than to spend it at Edom's best kept secret, the Wild Briar Country Inn, less than a mile west of downtown Edom. Wild Briar is owned and operated by Max and Mary Scott. The Inn is a perfect spot for private parties or a weekend stay in the country. On January 9th there was true Southern hospitality awaiting the arrival of the Friends & Flowers Garden Club. Upon arrival, before getting down to business, the gardeners enjoyed lunch and dessert fit for a queen. Dixie Taylor was activity planner for the month and for luncheon favors Dixie 1 column x 6 inches gave each lady an embellished folder filled with gardening information and also presented a short program on "Flowers in Alaska." Before the day came to an end, the ladies toured the six bedroom, six bath Inn, which Mary describes as being a British-Welsh-Scottish French style, with a little bit of Texas throughout. Those enjoying the day at Wild Briar were Carol Blakely, Jean Dean, Linda Owen, Anna Mae Williams, Martha Hardwick, Billie Barker, Wanda McCreary, Lou Gossett, Doris Langston, Mary Williams, Joyce Jordan, Nettie Jo McLean, Iva Williams, Bobbie Sparks, Jannie Parker, Murlene Wommack and her guest Joy Vosburg, Dixie Taylor, and Pat McBride. January Garden Tips - Clean sharpen and oil mowers, tillers, edgers, sprayers and other garden tools. Drain old gasoline and replace before use. Transplant established landscape plants that you want to move to other areas. |
