Betty J. Donald

Betty Jean Donald passed away January 2, 2008, at Hospice of East Texas after a brief illness. Services were held Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage, Mississippi, with Rev. Tom Hawk officiating. Burial was in Fuston Cemetery in Walnut Grove, Mississippi.

She was born January 27, 1933, in Leake County, Mississippi, to Billie Matt and Edna Hanna Stewart. She was a secretary in civil service and member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Business and Professional Women's Club. She was confined to a nursing home after a crippling car accident in 1970 and had been a resident at the Chandler Nursing Center for 18 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chandler.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Billie Joe Stewart. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Mike Donald, of Chandler; sister and brother-in-law Christine and Bill Martin of Chandler; son Michael Donald; granddaughter April Wise; and great-grandson Skylar Downs of Natchitoches, Louisiana; and daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Gary Hendrix, and granddaughter Kimberly, of Chandler.
