Elizabeth Anne Thomas Funeral services for Elizabeth Anne Thomas, 64, of Murchison/Athens were held at 2:00 Wednesday at the Opelika Missionary Baptist Church with Terry Adair and A.W. Cooper officiating. Burial followed at the Allen Cemetery near Murchison. She passed away Saturday, January 12, 2008 in Tyler. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Cooper Funeral Home of Athens. Mrs. Thomas was born October 3, 1943 in Beumont, Texas to her parents, Harlow and Lena Scurlock Bigelow. She attended schools in Port Neches Groves, graduating in 1961. She married Tony Thomas on March 23, 1962 and they soon moved to Henderson County. She was employed as a beautician for several years and had most recently worked as a designer at the Flower Patch of Brownsboro. Her talents were many and she was an active vendor of crafts at Canton Trade Days for over 20 years. She was the owner of Anne's Cakes and Specialty, and was also an accomplished seamstress. Anne Thomas was a friend to many and enjoyed her fellowship as a former member of the Central Baptist Church of Athens and currently a member of the Opelika Missionary Baptist Church. She cherished her family and was considered a mentor and caregiver to many. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Effie Marie Jones; and brother, A.C. Bigelow. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Tony Thomas of Murchison/Athens; son and daughter-in-law, Donald Wayne and Debbie Thomas of Larue; daughter and son-inlaw, Cindy and Lee Shelton of Seven Points; sister, Wanda Bigelow of Murchison; grandchildren, Bruce and Cortney Thomas, Jacob and Yuko Thomas, Laura Thomas, Justin Shelton; great-grandchildren, Conner Thomas, Eli Thomas; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. |
