Bears A pair of close games punctuated the Brownsboro Bears Varsity Team on January 8 and 11. The first game saw Brownsboro pitted against Mabank. Brownsboro started off slow with 8 points to Mabank's 17 in the first quarter, but quickly built up speed, eventually scoring a staggering 20 points in the fourth.

It was not enough, however, to save the Bears from a defeat, and the final score was 52-57.

The outing against Canton was much kinder to the team. Beating Canton in all quarters except the second, the Bears were able to fight their way to a win. The Bears also scored 20 points during the fourth quarter in the Canton game.

The top scorer against Mabank was Keaton Parsell with 16 points. Kyle Price landed second here with 10.

Ryan Smith took the lead in the Canton match with 13.

The Varsity Bears are now 11-12 in the season, with a record of 1-0 in district.

Bearettes

The Varsity Bearettes scored high marks against Chapel Hill on January 8. In a powerful showing, the team buried the opposition 55-27.

The team built up momentum in the first quarter and didn't lose it. Ever quarter the team not only scored higher than their opponents, but also managed to hit double digits.

Sabrina Bradley and Chelsea Chimney played a strong game that Tuesday, each scoring 19 points over the course of the game.

The game against Canton saw a narrow defeat to the tune of 52-56. Coming out the better in the first half, the Bearettes began to slip during the second before the buzzer rang.

Chelsea Chimney again scored tops at 16 points. Monica Redfearn was the team's second scorer against Canton, reaching 13 points.

The Varsity Bearettes are now 18-6 overall, and 2-1 in District. On Friday the Bearettes will play in Athens against the Lady Hornets.
