D.A. Donna Bennett seeking re-election

Donna Bennett
Henderson County District Attorney Donna Bennett has announced that she will seek re-election in the March 4, 2008, Republican Primary.

Bennett graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown and St. Mary's School of Law in San Antonio. She has been a licensed attorney since 1986. She moved to Henderson County in 1991 to work for District Attorney Billy Bandy.

Bennett became board certified in criminal law in 1992. There is only one other attorney in Henderson County who is board certified in criminal law. She first ran for District Attorney in 1994.

Mrs. Bennett attributes her success to the great staff she has working for the public. Bennett said, "There are seven lawyers in the office and ten support staff, who work hard every day processing cases, answering questions, and appearing in court. We have an excellent reputation for being tough, fair and ready to go to trial."

Bennett will continue to work with the Drug Enforcement Unit and the other police agencies throughout our county to combat the methamphetamine problem. "I am proud to tell you they have been effective in closing down most of the drug labs that have produced meth in our county. However, our battle continues as we prosecute the dealers and users," Bennett said.

Bennett stressed her legal experience in announcing for reelection. She has over twenty years experience as a prosecutor, handling every type of case imaginable. "I think it is important for the District Attorney to be capable of trying cases and handling cases in court on a day to day basis. I have dedicated over 20 years to prosecuting."

Bennett has served as Henderson County District Attorney for the past thirteen years and is proud of the strong staff she has put in place to her prosecute crime and serve the citizens in Henderson County.
