East Texas Girls Softball has a "planning meeting " scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2 PM at the Chandler Elementary Cafeteria. All people interesting in helping with the league this year, please plan to attend. All current coaches or those interested in coaching a team this season are encouraged to attend as well. BMC Baseball will hold their annual meeting on Sun. Jan. 27 at 2 PM in the Chandler Community Center. All parents and coaches are invited to attend. First United Methodist Church on HWY 31 in Murchison is having "Bring a Friend to Church Sunday" on Feb. 3. We hope that our members are inviting YOU, but if you get missed, bring yourself! Worship starts at 11 AM and we'd love to have you! We will also be starting 2 new Bible studies. For the Men, "A Time To Laugh" by David Farmer. The Brownsboro Young Farmers Association will have their monthly meeting on Monday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 PM at the Ag. Voc. building behind the high school.

Practices for the March 15 and 16 performances of the

CBACC will be having their Annual Awards Banquet Feb. 7. The silent auction will begin at 6:30 followed by the dinner and program at 7. Nomination ballots for this years awards must be taken from The Statesman located on page 9, only official ballots will be counted.

Plans are being made to organize a 10 year reunion for the BHS class of 1998. Alumni are encouraged to contact Brandee Boyd Ratliff at bhsclassof98@aol.com with their current contact information. The reunion is scheduled for the fall of `08 and information on former classmates is greatly appreciated.

Free Income Tax Assistance provided by AARP volunteers. The services will be available from Feb 1st through April 14 at the following times and locations: Fridays 8- Noon in Athens at the Henderson County Senior Center, Mondays 8- Noon in Seven Points at the Library at Cedar Creek Lake, and Wednesdays 8- Noon in Malakoff at the Senior Citizens Center. The Brownsboro Theater Angels are now distributing for Homemade Gourmet. You can help us support the fine arts by purchasing your homemade gourmet thru our website www.homemadegourmet.com/brownsborotheaterangels or pick up selected products at Ellis Mercantile on Hwy 31 east of Chandler on north side of highway before FM 2661. Special thanks to Ellis Mercantile for allowing us to set up in their store.

Starting Dec. 13 and every Thursday following, St. Stephen's Anglican Church in Athens will host a day care service for Senior Citizens at 2101 East College St. Care will be available from 8AM-4PM. Lunch will be served at noon. The fee for the service is $4 for the first hour and $3 for each additional hour. There are limitations on guests that may be accommodated; reservations are required. Urgent! Meals On Wheels in the Chandler area is in Real Need for a volunteer to deliver meals to some people. This is an opportunity for someone to give back and receive a blessing. It will only take about an hour of your time to deliver to 25 needy individuals in our community and for only one day a week. The meals will be picked up at the Community Center to be delivered.Please call Kimberly Laws at (903)849-2252.

Lake Palestine United Methodist Church has collected the best recipes from group members, family, and friends and compiled them into an attractive, keepsake cookbook. They will begin selling them on Nov. 12. The cookbooks may be purchased from any church member, or at the church. All proceeds will go to the Angel Food Trailer Fund. Story-time for pre-schoolers resumed at the Chandler Public Library beginning Thursday, Sept. 13, at 10:00 AM. Interested persons can call the library at 903-849-4122 for more information.

The Kickapoo Creek Kiwanis meets at noon, each Wednesday, at Piggy's Too.

The Chandler Lions Club meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month in the Chandler Community Center at 7pm. Meetings consist of dinner, meeting and a program. Anyone interested in giving back to the community through the Lions organization is invited to attend.

The Disabled American Veterans & Auxiliary meets the 2nd Monday of the month at the Senior Citizens Center, next to the Fairgrounds on Hwy. 31 east in Athens. A covered dish meal is served at 6:30pm with the meeting to follow. All members and prospective members are urged to attend.
