Varsity Basketball Results
Varsity Bearettes The Brownsboro Bearettes were humbled over the week by a barrage of incredibly close matches. Each time Brownsboro came close enough to taste victory, but not close enough to hold it.

Chad Wilson Photo Senior Keaton Parsell has provided the Bears with leadership throughout the season.
Against Canton the Bearettes jumped forward to take the lead in the first half with 11 in the 1st quarter and 12 in the 2nd, each time outscoring Canton by a little. Canton stepped up their game soon after and bit back, scoring a total of seven points more than Brownsboro scored throughout the second half, ending the game four points ahead of Brownsboro.

Bullard and Athens followed suit. Bullard squeezed by with 37 to Brownsboro's 35, and Athens, despite ending at a significant disadvantage at the turn of the second half, managed to come back with a vengeance against the Bearettes in the 3rd quarter. It was this display that pushed Athens to the top.

Chelsea Chimney was the team's top scorer for all three games, sinking 13 points worth of baskets against Bullard, 14 in Athens, and 16 against Canton.

Varsity Bears

The Brownsboro Varsity Bears played a series of tight games over the week. On January 11 the team engaged Canton and managed to outscore the team in all but one quarter, even squeezing 20 points into the net during the final quarter. Ryan Smith took home the highest scorer title against Canton with 13 of the team's 47 points.

The mood changed with the January 15 Bullard match. The Bears hit a snag immediately, only scoring 16 points in the first half compared to Bullard's 25. While the Bears managed to bring the score up to tie Bullard's points for the 3rd quarter, and beat Bullard's 4th quarter score, the push wasn't enough to win the day. Bullard won 52-44. Ryan again took the top scorer title with 18 points.

Against Athens on January 18 the team managed to play an incredibly close game. The Bears had forward momentum going during the first half, tying, then beating Athens' 1st half point accumulation. Athens struck back hard in the 2nd half and managed to down the Bears by a measly two points.
