Lake Palestine U.M.C. The church had a good turnout for church on Sunday. The new combined adult Sunday School class seems to be working out well. Rev. Richard gave the lesson this week on `hell.' Bob Fisher preached the sermon at both services and did a very good job. Richard had thought he would be gone, but wound up being in church anyway. Dale Whisenhunt wasn't feeling well this week. Hope he is feeling better now. It was great to see Shaun Decker in church. He looks great after his time in Iraq. The Angel Food baskets were given out on Saturday. Mary Ann Whisenhunt was there to make sure everything went along smoothly. If anyone would like a February basket, be sure and let her know through the church number. Everyone is getting excited about the Shrove Tuesday pancake supper from 5:30 to 7:00 on February 5th. We are especially excited about the jazz ensemble coming for the entertainment. The women shouldn't forget they have a Valentine breakfast sponsored by the Methodist Men on February 9th at 8:00 AM. It's early, but well worth it. Ken Cade's mother, Rose, has been in the hospital but hopefully is home by the time this article is published. Rebecca Prather's mother is still in the hospital in Houston. Rebecca went down there to see her this past weekend. Bernard and Linda Massey and Roland and Gail Massey, along with Sarah and Don Howard have recently returned from a Carribbean cruise. I hope they enjoyed a lot of warm weather. Next Wednesday night is the Ash Wednesday service at the church. Be sure and put that on your calendars. It is the official start of the Lenten season. |
