St. Boniface Catholic On the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, members of St. Boniface heard (in the second reading) from the letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians that there should be no division among us. God sent Paul to preach the gospel. In the gospel reading, we heard of the fulfillment of the words of Isaiah. Fr. Jesse, in his homily, explained that Jesus' mission was threefold: to preach, to teach and to heal. When He was walking near the Sea of Galilee He called Peter, Andrew, James and John to be `fishers of men.' Our Lord, Jesus Christ went around Galilee teaching, proclaiming the gospel, and curing illness. Following Mass, refreshments were served in the community room. There are several noteworthy events coming up at St. Boniface. This week, all the priests of the Diocese are on Spiritual Retreat. You are asked to keep them, especially Fr. Jesse, in your prayers. There will be no weekday Masses during that time. On Friday, February 1st (First Friday) Adoration begins at 5pm with Holy Mass following at 6pm. On Sunday, February 3rd the youth of St. Boniface will host a pancake breakfast. The cost is $4.00. Please make plans to participate. There will be two Masses on Ash Wednesday, February 6th, at 9:00 am and again at 7:00 pm. This is a day of Fasting and Abstinence. Fr. Jesse will celebrate the Mass in Spanish on Sunday, February 10th at 12:30 pm. Congratulations and best wishes to all who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. We pray for those who are sick and suffering. Please remember in prayer our departed brothers and sisters; may they rest in Peace with the Lord. We continue to pray for our men and women in the armed services; may God protect them and keep them safe. Have a good week! |
