Oil-slick roads cause pickup flip
By Nathan Straus News Reporter

Nathan Straus Photo This red Dodge 1500 slipped on FM 315. The vehicle flipped over, but there were no injuries. The accident caused the truck to smash into the ground on the side of the road, so the road itself was not blocked.
At 3:15 pm Friday, January 25, a 2008 Dodge 1500 Pickup lost control on South FM 315 and hit an off-road ditch, turning up on its side in the muddy ground. Vern Leavitt, retired Forest Grove resident, said he had turned off of FM 317 and stepped on the accelerator just before the "wet road effect" took control.

"Road must be oily or something," Leavitt said. "The car veered off sideway, crossed and flipped over. You can't tell what by the looks of the surface what conditions are."

West Side Volunteer Fire Department responded to the wreck to find the man uninjured and standing outside of his vehicle. The windows were broken and the top was caved in.

Leavitt refused medical treatment.
