West Lake Baptist
by Naomi Bledsoe

The Super Bowl of Singing: "Living Proof," a country gospel group from Jacksonville, was in concert at WLBC on Sunday from 3:00-4:00 p.m. sharing a refreshing blend of originally composed songs, combining tight vocals with billboard-chart quality strings (the dobro, mandolin, guitars, bass, banjo, and keyboard). The group, which does not seek to mimic the sound of other famous quartets, has been blessed with an amazing gift to write fresh material and minister with a unique sound driven by God's call on their lives. The group which is a ministry of Emmanuel Baptist Church has two CDs and an active concert schedule.

"Turning Your SMALL Steps Into BIG Feats" is the title of the pastor's new Sunday morning sermon series on Jesus' Parable of the Talents. In our success crazed world, we often equate bigger with better, while ignoring the value of the many important small things that God has called us to do well. In this new series, we'll explore life principles explaining the BIG picture of God's call on our lives, and we'll discover how God often works to bring about the really BIG things by calling us to be faithful in many SMALL ways. Message titles in the series include: "Little Feats: Finding the Big Value of Small Things"; "Happy Feats: Living for the Smile (of God)"; "Financial Feats: Using Big Faith with a Small Wallet."

WMU Book Review: The WMU recently held a book review led by Linda McQuaid entitled "Great Women in Christian History."
