Catfish tourney at Lake Palestine A one-day Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest Fishing Tournament has been announced for Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Lake Palestine some 15 miles southwest of Tyler. The tournament, with more than $20,000 in overall prizes, will award $1,000 hourly for the four biggest fish weighed in by Ken Freeman Outdoor Productions of Selma, Tenn. The fisherman who catches the largest catfish of the day will win a new Tracker boat and $1,000. Second place will be $750, third will be $500, and fourth will be $250. Hourly prizes for the largest catfish caught will be $400 for first, $300 for second, $200 for third, and $100 for fourth. The tournament based in Frankston will be sponsored by Lake Palestine Resort and East Texas Fishing in conjunction with the Lake Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce. The entry fee will be $100 for fishermen with a senior discount of $50. Kids under 17 can fish free with a paying adult. The tournament will begin at 6 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. with the weigh-in at Lake Palestine Re- sort on Hwy. 155 near the south bridge of the lake.
