District road games prove to be too much for the Bearettes Both District 14-3A girls basketball games were on the road last week and both resulted in Bearettes losses dropping the Bearettes district record to 3-6 on the season. Playing in Canton last Tuesday the Bearettes suffered a heart breaking overtime loss to the Eagletes. Canton scored 10 overtime points while holding Brownsboro to seven points in the extra period enroute to the 58-55 win. Chelsea Chimney scored a team high 25 points for the Bearettes in the overtime loss. Monica Redfearn also scored in double figures with 14 points. On Friday the Bearettes fell to the Bullard Lady Panthers by the score of 72-52. All five Bearettes starters fouled out of the game. Sabrina Bradley led the Bearettes in scoring with 13 points while Monica Redfearn and LeCandace Bell also scored in double figures. Redfearn scored 11 points and nailed two 3-pointers while Bell scored 10 points with two 3-pointers. The back-to-back losses knocked the Bearettes out of a playoff spot. Bullard (26- 4) is the district leader with a 9-0 record and ranked #16 in the top 20 by TABC. Brownsboro's final game of the season was played Tuesday night against Athens in Brownsboro. Results from the game will be in the February 14 issue of The Statesman. For the season the Bearettes record stands at 19-11.
