West Lake Baptist Baptism Service: Marilyn Noel was baptized in the morning service. Valentine Banquet is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 13th in the fellowship hall to include food and fellowship with the residents of Breckenridge Village. Discipleship University (DU): The spring semester of DU starts Sunday, March 2 with four course offerings. Courses include "Crown Financial: Biblical Financial Study" (an intensive 10-week course on the Biblical principles of money management, facilitated by our own Crown Ministries-certified instructors Dennis Melton and Charley Fuller.) The course is limited to eight (8) participants and will meet at 4:00 p.m. for 2 hours each week on Sundays. "The Answers Academy," a nine study on origins/creation/ evolution taught by Clayton Nicolardi who is a WLBC member and is em- ployed as a biologist. Offered on Sunday evenings, this exciting DVD-based workbook supported material will answer questions about dinosaurs, the age of the earth, creationism vs. evolution, etc. A large participation is expected in this class for this popular study, so sign up soon. "Beth Moore Bible Study" (an indepth DVD-based Bible study for ladies taught by Cindy Pierce; "Thursday Night Ladies Bible Study," (a popular topical study for women offered on Thursday nights and led by Tanya Essary. Youth Minister Candidate: This Sunday night the church will meet and consider a candidate for the full-time position of youth/student pastor as presented by the youth search committee. All WLBC youth youth group members (ages 7th grade and up) and their parents will meet at 5:30 in the youth building for a pizza fellowship with the candidate, followed by a church-wide presentation at 6:30 p.m. Easter Choir Concert: "He is Risen" will be performed by the Celebration Choir on Sunday, March 16th. WLBC choirs meet at the following times. The Celebration Choir, Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m.; the Kidz Praise Choir (children), Wednesdays at 6:30 and led by Nancy Hopson; Singin' Saintz Senior Adult Choir, Thursdays 9:30-11:00 a.m.; West Lake Praise Ensemble (praise team and worship band), Sundays at 9:00 a.m. "Turning Your SMALL Steps into BIG Feats" is the title of the pastor's new Sunday morning sermon series on Jesus' Parable of the Talents. In our success-crazed world, we often equate bigger with better, while ignoring the value of the many important small things that God has called us to do well. In this new series, we'll explore life principles explaining the BIG picture of God's call on our lives, and we'll discover how God often works to bring about the really BIG things by calling us to be faithful in many SMALL ways. Message titles in the series include: "Little Feats: Finding the Big Value of Small Things"; "Happy Feats: Living for the Smile (of God); "Financial Feats: Using Big Faith with a Small Wallet"; "Aching Feats: When Doing God's Seems to Hurt." WMU Book Review: The WMU recently held a book review led by Linda McQuaid entitled "Great Women in Christian History."
