Brownsboro opens up baseball and softball season Bearette softball began play on Monday night while the Bears baseball team will begin the 2008 season next Thursday in Palestine. On Monday the Bearettes hosted Palestine in the season opener. Brownsboro won the game 4-2 on the arm of Krystin Groothuis. Full game details in next week's paper. This weekend the Bearettes will play in the Palestine Tournament. Game one of pool play is at 11:30am on Friday against Kemp. Pool game two is against Jacksonville at 1pm and pool game three is at 5:30 against Crockett. All games will be played in Palestine. Next weekend the Bears will play in the Palestine Tournament. Brownsboro's first game is scheduled for Thursday at 10am against Palestine Westwood, next year's District 20-3A opponent. The game will be played at Westwood. After a short breather the Bears will take the field once again on Thursday. At 12:30pm the Bears will play softball season Mildred at Westwood. On Friday, February 22 the Bears will play Jacksonville at 12:30pm at Westwood. Depending on how the Bears fare in the above games will determine their seeding on Saturday in Elkhart. The Bears first home game is March 11 against Palestine. The Bearettes next home game is February 19 at 6pm against Malakoff.
