By splitting District 14-3A basketball games last week the Brownsboro Bears need just one more win to secure a playoff berth.
Brownsboro's last game of the regular season was played Tuesday night after press time in Chapel Hill. If the Bears won the game they are in the playoffs.
Who and where has yet to be determined if the Bears earn the third seed as there could be a four way tie for first place in 13-3A.
It is estimated that the Bears would play on either Monday or Tuesday, February 18-19, in the first round of the playoffs.
In order to put themselves in playoff position the Bears defeated Athens 46-38 last Tuesday night in Brownsboro.
Brownsboro won the opening tip and Ryan Smith put the Bears on the board first in what would prove to be a low scoring game.
The Bears outscored the Hornets 11-5 in the first period as Zach Bailey ended the period with a three pointer as time expired.

On Friday the Bears lost a hard fought game to Van 50-45 in Brownsboro.
Van took an early first period lead thanks in large part to Jeremie Calhoun. In the second period the Bears fought back to take the lead and led at the half 27-24.
Brownsboro was electric from behind the three point line in the second period as they nailed four 3-pointers.
Using a 9-0 run in the third period the Bears pulled away from the Vandals by the score of 36-28.
Trailing 37-32 entering the fourth period the Vandals rallied after the Bears opening basket of the period. Van used a 14-0 run to retake the lead, a lead they never surrendered.
