Bearettes end 07-08 season with an impressive win over Athens

District 14-3A was rough on the Bearettes as they entered district play with a 16-5 overall record. After ten district games the Bearettes final overall record stands at 20-11.
On Senior Night the Bearettes shined as they defeated the Athens Lady Hornets by the score of 68-64 to finish district play with a 4-6 record.
Athens finished the season with a 20-10 overall record and a 6-4 district record earning second place. Bullard led the district with a 10-0 record.
Brownsboro won the opening tip last Tuesday night before the Lady Hornets scored six unanswered points to take a 6-0 lead.
The Bearettes fought back and by periods end the score read 11-11 as Naomi Scott tied the game for Brownsboro with a free throw.
In the second period the game remained close as the teams traded leads. The Bearettes took the lead at the half as Synola Harmon scored with seconds left.
Athens overcame a six point Brownsboro lead in the third period to tie the game at 45 entering the fourth period. Athens took advantage of the three point shot in the third as they nailed four three pointers.

Neither team took control in the fourth period but it was the great play of the Bearettes that earned the win.
With :55 left in the game Athens was on fire having just nailed a three point shot to cut the Brownsboro lead to two, 63-61.
Brownsboro drove down the court and answered right back as Monica Redfearn sank a shot with :30 left. Brownsboro forced a turnover on the Hornets next possession leading to a Bearette timeout with :27 left to play and a 65-61 lead.
Athens held the Bearettes from scoring before heading to the free throw line with :19 left to play. Athens' Staci Hankins missed a pair of free throws and the ball was rebounded by Sabrina Bradley.
With :05 left in the game Athens sank a three to cut the Brownsboro lead to one, 65-64.
On the inbounds pass Bradley was fouled by Athens and sank one of two shots extending Brownsboro's lead to 66- 64 with :02 left.
In her final high school basketball play Chelsea Chimney rebounded Bradley's missed shot and laid it back in to give the Bearettes the 68-64 win.
