St. Boniface Catholic On the Second Sunday of Lent, members of St. Boniface heard of the Disciples' witness to the Transfiguration of Jesus. This was indeed a privilege! The `light' that appeared around Him was shining from Him. In his homily, Fr. Jesse told us that Jesus wants to transform us, too. Jesus Christ abolished death and brought eternal life through the power of the Holy Spirit. As members of the church of Jesus Christ we are meant to reflect our conviction in Christ. The Holy Spirit works with us and through us to transform us and our transformation is shown through our conviction. At the end of the Holy Mass, Iris Mamo, DRE presented an Intermediate Certificate of Religious Education to our beloved matriarch, Conradita Sanchez. Iris told the congregation that Conradita is living proof that you are never too old to grow in your faith. Conradita will turn 89 years old this week. As she graciously accepted her certification, Conradita stated that she couldn't do it without the congregation of St. Boniface's help, pushing her on. Members enjoyed plentiful refreshments in the community room following Mass. This week's baking team really outdid themselves! At 11 a.m., Iris Mamo led the CCD students in reciting the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. The second installment of the Lenten Reflections devotions was viewed by the students and some parishioners as well. In his message, Bishop Alvaro Corrada spoke of the Cardinal Virtues which are Prudence, Justice, Fortitude, and Temperance. It is a teaching of the Catholic Church that the Cardinal (moral) Virtues grow through education, deliberate acts, and perseverance in struggle. Divine grace purifies and elevates them. Practices continue for The Passion Play. Several area churches are involved as this is an ecumenical effort. As always this performance is a magnificent way to reflect on the death of our Lord and Savior and His rising again. Please make plans to attend the performances on March 15th and 16th at 7:30 pm at St. Boniface. Attendance was amazing at the Spanish language Mass. Each Sunday Fr. Jesse will celebrate the Eucharist in Spanish at 12:30. Let it be noted that our own Fr. Jesse is aglow with the love of the Lord and radiates his Catholic faith in his native tongue. Congratulations and best wishes to all who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, most especially Conradita Sanchez. God bless you! We pray, too, for the faithful departed: may they rest in eternal peace with Jesus. Continue to lift in prayer the brave men and women who serve our great nation in the armed services protecting our freedom. May you all have a blessed week! |
