Chandler F.U.M.C. Service Feb. 24th: "The Seven Deadly Sins #3" Scripture Matthew 18:21-35 Remember that old saying about confession being good for the soul? Think about making that confession before God himself! How relatively easy it is for blasphemy to enter into our everyday language. You hear all ages of people using foul language, not in anguish but as a means of self-expression. It's now acceptable in public, in movies and on TV. How many times do we hear "my god" during the course of a day? Jesus said "All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men; but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men." Matthew 12:31. He then said, "Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgby ment." Matthew 12:36. Pray that we as Christians have a vocabulary sufficient to communicate without offending our Father on Judgment day. The Golden Pairs' reception last Saturday was a real inspiration for all of us, married or not, just to keep and maintain a relationship for over 50 years requires hard work and a lot of prayer. To see these wonderful people in a loving relationship is truly what our Lord wanted for his children. May God continue to bless these wonderful couples: Bill and Nina Copeland (65 years of marriage), Bill and Zel Snow (62), Russell and Geraldine Bradford (62), Jake and Lou Langston (61), Jack and Jeanette Irwin (60), Fred and Joan Stauber (60), Charles and Sara Hall (60), S.A. and Edith Billie Pollard (59), Lowell and Carolyn Wood (58), Billy and Chris Martin (58), Larry and Betty Davis (57), Dan and Mickey Saxon (54), Bob and Virginia Padgett (54), Clint and Betty Mulcahy (53), Jack and Thelma Jones (53), Jerry and Alice Murl Kidd (53), Bill and Jean Thatcher (52), Billy and Marilyn Pollard (52), Donald and Barbara Daniell (52), Robert and Bessie Robinson (52), Dan and Marty Townsend (51), Jim and Lou Griffin (50), Charles and Sylvia Lipscomb (50), Don and Martha Copeland (50). Sunday, February 24th will be the first day of the "Jesus of Nazareth" film which will be shown in Heritage Hall starting at 6 p.m. The film is over 6 hours in length and will be shown over the next three Sundays. Since the film is appropriate for all ages, it could be a wonderful opportunity for families to view with their children or invite a friend or acquaintance who may never have considered the life of our savior in their lives. Happy Anniversary to: Tom and Shirley Ann Bradbeer, and Bobby and Patti Long. Happy Birthday to: Wynelle McDonald, Sharon Moffeit, Grace Callaway, Carol Munch and Chris Taylor. |
